The Anatomy of a Great Teacher

The video is selected from Emory University.Art of Teaching: Best Practices from a Master EducatorTaught By Professor Patrick N. Allitt, Ph.D., University of California, Berkeley,Lecture 23. The Anatomy of a Great TeacherTime:30:03

Summarization:

The Great Teacher have often some common characters. They love teaching, they love their job, they think it is more a vacation than a job ; they are enthusiasts for communicating what they know to their students, they are happy to be in with their students, they enjoy to be with their students. A good education is when students and teacher learn things from each other, so the Great Teacher learn from what's happening in the classroom.

According to this video, the Great Teacher scrutinize their teaching work, watche video of themselves, and criticize themselves frankly and continuously. They also watch other teachers and exchange candid judgments about what they are doing well and poorly.

The education is a fashion,so the Great Teacher adopt more effective techniques, they treat new theories with skepticism. They read a lot of books on teaching and learning and assimilate it, without losing faith in their particular style of teaching. They also study books in their field and look for ways to transform important developments within their field into material that their students can truly grasp.

In my opinion, the Great Teacher are not the persons who have the most important mass of knowledge , they are the persons who help the student to learn more. They like to communicate with students, they give the motivation and the hope to their students.
